We work with many disadvantaged and at risk young people. Our current environment is one where people with the skills, motivation and drive to achieve success in all areas of their life will achieve. Young people without these qualities, or who experience some difficulty in gaining access through reasons such as not completing their education, family breakdown, drug and alcohol or mental health issues or simply not feeling valued, find the doors to success in life are less likely to open for them.
These are the young people we must work harder for.
Shire Wide’s aim is to provide opportunities for young people to determine their own future. By this we mean that we want young people to be actively involved in decisions that impact on their lives and to see that they can improve their situations and achieve goals that they set for themselves.

What can you sponsor?
Making a cash donation is the easiest option for most of us. As a deductible gift recipient, donations to Shire Wide of $2 or more are tax deductible. We’ll issue you with a receipt and you are entitled to claim the donation on your tax return. Donations that are received in this way go towards programs and client support costs for example buying a fridge or some text books, helping out with a new outfit for a job interview, buying some new baby clothes or perhaps taking some of the tenants on an outing, to a camp or accessing other recreational activities.
There are a number of other options available to you when it comes to supporting the organisation. For example, our EASY project manages 12 dwellings in the Shire where we house our young clients. You or your business may want to sponsor the maintenance of the garden at Wattle Cottage, our young mums house. You may want to donate white goods, fridges are particularly useful. And what about sponsoring a young person’s TAFE fees or travel. Attending TAFE at Ultimo from Cronulla costs $17.50 per week for a student – that’s just over 10% of the weekly student youth allowance. You can also sponsor a range of equipment for the youth centre including crockery and supplies for the café; paper, beads and paint for the art room, photography and music equipment and more.

Acknowledgement of Supporters and Sponsors
Our supporters and sponsors receive:
- a certificate of appreciation from the organisation
- Acknowledgment in our Annual Report which is sent to members, government and other community stakeholders.
- Acknowledgement on our website
- Shire Wide newsletter
Corporate sponsors receive the above, and in addition those businesses who donate more than $1000 will receive a link to their website from our site. Supporters who donate more than $5000 will be able to display banners and goods and services information at our premises, at our Annual General Meeting, at particular sponsored events and our website.
